Next meeting – 10 February 2015

Please join us for the next meeting of the colonial and postcolonial studies group, which will take place on Tuesday 10th February, at 5pm in 4 University Gardens room 202 (note the new location).
The speaker is Stephen Mullen, who will be presenting his research on ‘The life, wealth and legacy of the West India merchants and planters of Glasgow, 1776-1884’.
Biography: Stephen Mullen has recently submitted his Ph.D. thesis at the University of Glasgow. He is currently employed as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in History working on the project ‘Runaway Slaves in Britain: Bondage, Race and Freedom in the Eighteenth Century’.

1st Meeting – October 2014

We’re kicking off our first meeting of the year with a talk by Michael Hopcroft, a postgraduate researcher in History at the Glasgow Caledonian University.

His title is: ‘Highlander Adventurers and Caribbean Slavery, 1750-1850’.

This will be held in room 205, 5 University Gardens at 5pm on 21st October
